One of the most popular entertainment streaming services is Amazon Prime Video which offers an ever-growing library of quality original content and a decent collection of movies and TV shows to stream.
Plus, if you subscribe to a plan, you also have the option to download content for offline viewing and even watch 4K titles. Additionally, on the platform, Amazon also hosts a huge catalog of TV shows and movies available for rent or purchase.
The great thing about Amazon Prime Video is that it comes as part of an Amazon Prime membership. This means that if you shop regularly from Jeff Bezos ‘ e-commerce giant, you don’t have to pay anything extra to take advantage of Prime Video.
How does Amazon Prime Video work?
Prime Video works just like Netflix and other streaming services. The platform allows you to watch movies and TV shows through your web browser, a mobile app installed on your smartphone, or even your TV with a game console or television streaming device.
Amazon offers a variety of content that is also available on other streaming services, but it also offers movies and TV shows that are available exclusively for streaming through Prime Video. In fact, Amazon also produces original movies and television shows, the Amazon Originals, available for streaming exclusively through Prime Video.
Devices enabled
Amazon Prime Video works in web browsers, on Android and iOS devices, streaming media devices such as Apple TV, Chromecast, Fire TV Stick, and Roku, game consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, and Wii), and Smart TVs. Prime Video is also available for Windows 10 via the app and supports offline downloads and an IMDb-based X-ray panel for streaming content.
Content playback
With Prime Video, you can stream up to three titles simultaneously from the same account, including 4K and HDR content.

Renting and buying
Unlike its rivals, such as Netflix for example, the Amazon Prime Video library includes a whole range of content that can be rented or purchased similar to iTunes and Google Play. In particular, for some content, buying and renting are the only options available. Please note that purchases and rentals are subject to restrictions.
Once you buy a movie or TV show on Prime Video, you can stream it as often as you like, and you can download it to up to four compatible devices.
While if you rent it, Amazon doesn’t allow you to stream the same rental to more than one device at the same time. Typically, you have 30 days to download or start streaming a rental movie, and after you download or start streaming it, you usually have 48 hours to finish watching it.

How to watch Amazon Prime Video from a browser?
You can use Prime Video to stream movies and TV shows to most computers via web browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. All you need is a computer powerful enough to stream video, a broadband Internet connection, and a compatible web browser.
To stream content with Prime Video:
- Go to primevideo.com/mytv
- Log in;
- Choose the movie or TV series you want to watch; You can choose from movies that have a blue “Prime” label in the upper left corner of the movie and video series thumbnails.
- If you don’t see the label, the video isn’t available to watch with Prime. (Instead of the blue label you can find the euro symbol to identify the contents available for purchase);
- Then click Play.
How to watch Amazon Prime Video on mobile devices?
In addition to your web browser, you can stream Prime Video content from mobile devices using the dedicated Prime Video app. The app is free and you can download it from:
- Android users: Prime Video on the Google Play Store
- iOS users: Prime Video on the App Store
- On Roku: Prime Video Roku channel
- On Xbox One: Prime Video on the Microsoft Store.
- For PlayStation 4: Prime Video on PlayStation Store.
- Fire users: Prime Video is included by default on Kindle Fire and Fire TV devices.

How to watch Amazon Prime Video on TV?
Amazon Prime is available as a dedicated app on smart TVs, including those from Sony, Samsung, LG, and Toshiba. You can usually access it from the TV’s main menu.

How to get Amazon Prime Video?
The only way to get Prime Video is to sign up for Amazon Prime, Amazon’s premium service (36 euros per year). If you subscribe to Prime, you not only get free and fast shipping on your e-commerce purchases but also access to Prime Video.
There is no way to get Prime Video without Prime. Then you’ll also get free shipping, music streaming, and other perks as part of the deal.
To sign up for Amazon’s Prime program, just log in to Amazon by entering your credentials (if you already have an Amazon account), or click on Create your Amazon account if you don’t already have one.
Then go to the My Amazon Prime section, enter a payment method, and complete the registration to start streaming.
The Prime Video library
The Prime Video library gives you access to hundreds of thousands of movies and TV series that you can stream whenever you want (on-demand). There is no live TV network available, except for a limited amount of sports content.
The range of content offered ranges from cinema to television, from classic to modern, including original content from Amazon. However, Amazon Prime Video has a smaller library than some of its rivals, like Netflix. And some of the newer titles you find on its homepage must be purchased outside the cost of your Prime membership.
The Amazon Originals
Amazon Originals are Amazon-produced videos that you can only stream from Prime Video.
Amazon originals are very similar to Netflix originals, except that Amazon typically releases its films in theaters before making them available for streaming, which has allowed its films to win Oscars and other awards. Anime on Amazon Prime Video
Obviously, the Amazon Prime Video library also includes films and cartoons aimed at younger users, but its offer is still limited compared to its competitors.
Currently, titles such as Winx, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Asterix, Peppa Pig, Masha, and the Bear, Just Add Magic, Shrek, and Kong fu Panda are available.
Live sports on Prime Video
In addition to on-demand content, Prime Video also hosts Champions League matches.

Rent movies from Amazon Prime Video

You can rent movies and TV episodes from Amazon or buy them to keep them forever. This doesn’t require an Amazon Prime membership, but as a Prime member, you use the same interface, account, and billing information to rent and buy digital movies that you use for Prime Video.
User interface
The Amazon Prime Video user interface is simple and intuitive to navigate.
The homepage of the service presents in the upper part, the menu where you can navigate between the following items: Home, Store, Channels, Categories, and Personal Area.
Just below that, Amazon Video highlights a few notable shows or movies available for streaming, and then organizes everything else into horizontally scrolling lists, like Continue Watching, Movies You Might Like, and Most Popular Movies.
The Categories section is especially useful for finding new releases, originals, and 4K UHD content. If you can’t find something on the home page, you can use the search bar at the top right to find specific content by title, genre, release date, or channel.
Once you select the program to watch, a page opens displaying the user’s rating, runtime, release date, and other pertinent information. If you’re on a TV show page, you can click the Preview button to watch a snippet; movie pages let you watch a trailer.
In addition to the play button, Amazon Prime Video has also implemented subtitles and on-screen stream quality options, including the X-Ray (powered by IMDb) feature. This transparent overlay populates useful information about the characters and actors currently in a scene, any soundtrack titles, as well as relevant performance notes (such as continuity errors and important cultural references). Most shows also have a Skip Intro button.
Playing movies does not pause for commercials, but internal content is advertised at the start of a show or movie. However, they are short and you can click the skip button.
Audio description and parental controls
Audio descriptions sit above the normal dialogue-based subtitles. You can specifically search for Amazon movies and TV shows with audio descriptions to find compatible content.
Much of Amazon’s original programming includes audio descriptions, such as Apple TV+, Disney+, and Netflix.
In terms of parental controls, you can restrict streaming based on the age of the users. You can also outline specific accounts as a Kid’s profile.
Can you download it from Prime Video?
Yes, you can download some of the programs to watch them offline whenever you want. It is a feature that is not offered by all of its competitors.
How to cancel Prime Video?
- To cancel Amazon Prime Video you need to cancel your Amazon Prime membership.
- Then log in to your account and go to “Account and Settings”.
- Look for the “Your Membership” section in the “Your Account” tab.
