Reasoning ability is an important section in all clerk and PO exams. With the level of difficulty of these exams increasing each year, you must formulate a good and effective strategy to score maximum in the reasoning section. The topics in the reasoning section include direction sense, blood relation, logical reasoning, data sufficiency, syllogism, etc.

You can easily access direction sense or blood relationship questions pdf for your practice and ace each topic. Following is a complete list of the topics covered in the reasoning section and how you can prepare them.

Distance and directions

It is one of the most scoring topics in reasoning. You need to read all the statements carefully, make diagrams and focus on one aspect at a time.

Blood relations

Solving problems related to blood relations requires you to read the details in the questions carefully and make flow charts of diagrams to find the correct answer. You can also get your hands on the blood relation questions pdf to strengthen this section and secure full marks.

Analogy

In this section, you must identify the relationship between two components and find the missing one with a similar relationship with another component. These questions are fundamental and take little time to find the correct answers. However, some questions may seem confusing, but practising enough questions of varying difficulty levels can get you sorted.

Classification

Similar to Analogy, Classification also doesn’t require much effort. However, you must have a good vocabulary and need a good amount of practice.

Order and Ranking

In this type of problem, you need to determine the position or rank of a person from left to right or top to bottom or the total number of people in a row or class. You can solve these questions using a few formulas or by making diagrams.

Alphanumeric series

Here, you need to identify a pattern in the given series. So, you must train your mind to look at the problem from various aspects and find the pattern. You can only master it by regular practising.

Coded or Mathematical Inequalities

This is a relatively easy topic if you have your total concentration while solving one. The best way to solve them is by making a table, decoding each symbol’s meaning, and rewriting the relationships with decoded symbols. Finally, you need to combine the relationships to arrive at a combined statement from which you can conclude easily.

Coding-Decoding

Here you need to identify a pattern between a word and its encoded version. Once you determine that, solving questions becomes a lot easier. Coding-decoding gets easier with practice as you develop a better understanding of checking various possibilities.

Linear and circular seating arrangements

You can’t resort to any shortcut while solving these questions. You need to make diagrams and repeatedly practise to gain a good grasp of them.

Syllogism

In syllogism, you need to have clarity on the theory. Try using Venn diagrams to solve the problems or other approaches that you find easier.

Data sufficiency

You get moderate-level questions in data sufficiency, and the answers to these questions are not definite. You need to find the most suitable answer concerning the situation. The most crucial thing about data sufficiency is reading the questions carefully to determine accurate answers.

While the reasoning section is vast, you should know that the answer to the problem remains hidden in the question. So, read the question carefully. Also, focus more on mathematical puzzles to improve your time management. Lastly, take section-wise tests to keep a tab on your performance.
